Yesterday at 5:00 pm I typed my CFNC code into the Uni App and clicked enter.
Residential Finalist:
Congratulations! You have been selected as a residential finalist and are being offered the opportunity to be part of the NCSSM Residential Program Class of 2017.
I may have been a wee bit excited. Okay, I was, and am still, very excited. I am also excited to be attending with two friends from RTHS, as well as two acquaintances. On top of that is any number of students from Ligon and friends of friends. I’m already sad to be leaving RTHS, my drama program, and all the people here who matter. They matter a lot. But it’s silly, isn’t it? I’ve got three more months here to make the most of. I will return regularly to see people, I will come to all the plays, and I will still follow the RTHS raptors on social media. So while I will miss them, I won't really leave them, not for a long time yet.
Of course it’s hard to write this without mentioning those who did not get in. It’s incredibly unfair, as over a thousand highly qualified students apply. I’m certain the decision process is difficult and intense. I encourage those students to appeal, if they truly believe NCSSM is what they want. But I am also confident that they have the ability to make the most of the education available to them.
There is a lot to do. The My NCSSM web portal is full of forms to fill out. There are classes to choose, contacts to make, arrangements to arrange. I’m pretty happy. I’m very happy.
